World Ozone Day Essay
Ozone is a trioxygen inorganic molecule having pale blue color and pungent smell. Its formula is Oз which means tri oxygen. It is not only a molecule having pungent smell, it is the protective layer around the earth, the layer which protects the earth from different hazardous gases and attack of bursting stars in space. Scientists proved that fission reactions are continuously taking place in sun and other stars. If the chemicals, gases, and other reaction products directly reach to the earth, it will be very dangerous for the safety and survival of the earth. Mainly, ozone layer protects the earth from ultra violet rays, which are very hazardous for the earth. Ozone is therefore a very protective layer for earth.
But unfortunately, due to exceeded use of chlorofluorocarbons in our daily life. The main sources of chlorofluorocarbons are refrigerators and air conditioners. These chlorofluorocarbons are responsible for gradual depletion of ozone layer. Scientists have observed a hole in ozone layer which is alarming for the world.
So to create awareness and to acquire environmental friendly techniques to reduce the use of chlorofluorocarbons, UN general assembly proposed to celebrate world ozone day, this decision was taken in 1994, and since then world ozone day is celebrated every year on 16th September. This day is celebrated worldwide on national and international levels. Governments of different countries conduct awareness programs and ceremonies to spread the use of environmental friendly and ozone protective products. Different programs are also conducted in schools andcolleges to teach young ones how to protect our world. Different activities are managed by the teachers to develop awareness in students, so they can learn the use of environmental friendly and ozone protective techniques.
Scientists and researchers proved that use of Hydrofluorocarbons in place of Chlorofluorocarbons is less dangerous, according to a research; hydrofluorocarbons have zero ozone depletion potential. Scientists have also observed that ozone depletion level has been lowering since the use of hydrofluorocarbons instead of chlorofluorocarbons.
People should also take measures to save this world, otherwise this will end soon. Let promise yourself on this coming world ozone day that you will not perform any such activity which will be the reason of ozone depletion.
World Ozone Day Slogans and Quotes
“Earth without ozone is like a house without roof.”
“If you want a higher power, go to the goddamn sun. Just go to the sun – and stop destroying the ozone layer.”

International Literacy Day 2016
International Literacy Day Essay : Literacy means “ability to read and write”, the act of being educated. Literacy is an essential need of development. The countries with low literacy rate are economically failed and their progress rate is very slow. The personality of an individual is polished if he or she is educated, but an illiterate person can be disrespected in society. The value of literacy can be imagined by taking the example of some African areas where literacy rate is much below than average therefore they are still working as the slaves of other countries.
When International Literacy Day observed ?
To produce sense and awareness about the value of literacy and education, United Nations Educational, scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO) announced to celebrate International Literacy Day on 8th of September every year. This was decided in 1965 and from 1966 to onwards, this day is celebrated each year on 8th September. Every year UNO organizes conferences and seminars to highlight the importance of literacy. Governments of all countries also organize programs and expeditions to create awareness in people about literacy. Governments force people to get necessary education and send their children to school. Literacy programs are also organized on school and college basis, where the students present speeches and models to demonstrate the value of literacy.
Parents have an important role in the development of children but if the parents are illiterate, they are not able to cope with the needs of new century, so their children can be suffered. So , such program must be organized which teach the parents to read and write. Such steps must be taken that any child should not be deprived of going to school. This is their right to get education. We should promise ourselves on this coming World literacy day, that we will be the part of a literacy campaign.
Literacy for everyone, no one left behind
International Literacy Day Slogans
1.) “Literacy unlocks the door to learning throughout life, is essential to development and health, and opens the way for democratic participation and active citizenship.”
~ Kofi Annan
2.) “Nothing about it interested me. Or about anything else, except making up stories. If literacy weren’t so nearly universal, God knows what I’d be. A drain on the State, I shouldn’t wonder.”
~ Donald E. Westlake
3.) “Yet in our enthusiasm for the idea that everyone should be able to read and write fluently, we may be missing a crucial point: in today’s culture, finely honed literacy skills are simply not as important as they once were.”
~ Hugh Mackay
International Literacy Day Quotes
1.) “If you want to work on the core problem, it’s early school literacy.”
~ James Barksdale, former CEO of Netscape
2.) On this International Literacy Day, let us recall that literacy for all is an integral part of education for all, and that both are critical for achieving truly sustainable development for all.
~ Kofi Annan
